Leandro Melendez (Señor Performo)Performance Advocate @ Grafana k6

Keynote of TestIstanbul 2023

Modern Performance testing. What’s the deal in tools and processes?

We need to evolve our thinking of performance, from just load-testing to continuously assure that our systems perform.
System performance has become critical through the pace of agile and continuous software methodologies, where things like microservices, cloud, IoT, and many other environments keep changing the landscape of the IT world.
Unfortunately, many teams still try to hold on to old testing methods and focus on executing load tests. Or worse, they think performance testing is the same as load testing.
There are many ways we can expand how we test performance. Everything from testing, assurance, validation, verification, optimization, notification, and many other activities. These actions will enable our organizations to ensure that the applications perform well and keep doing so under any set of circumstances.
What does it mean to assure performance nowadays? Leandro will discuss new technologies, practices, trends, and how they are changing the performance assurance discipline. He will use fun examples to illustrate these differences, starting from the old days to the most modern approaches. You will leave with several recommendations, tools, and procedures.
Get ready for a roadmap to start ensuring that your software performs at its best and that you keep it that way while continually developing it.
